Contact the State handicapper David Ladd Mob: ????
David will allocate you a grade, and your transponder number shall be provided to the Times 7 operator in time for the race.
Points 1 and 2 MUST TAKE PLACE by 9.00 pm 3 FULL DAYS PRIOR TO AN EVENT
Membership and/or grade allocation will no longer take place on the day of the race, for an OPEN event!
You can collect your transponder on the day of the event at the start-finish line timing van.

ROAD

Simialr to above but contact office of CSA to advise the need for a T7 unit which would typically be brought out to you on the day of the race. Please note that if you forget to bring your T7 to a race it is possible to"hire" one for the race do that three tiimes and you will have bought the transponder and your old one will be deleted from database!

So dont rock up on the day and expect a start , follow these simple rules and much angst will be avoided!

Please direct pertinent enquiries  re T Seven policy to the office of CSA  phone 8260 1800, alternatively Mike  will attempt to assist with you enrollment and participation in this sport in the context of guidelines imposed.

Article a work in progress

Traffic Marshals...Persons prepared to become registered marshalls (Its not a hard job) are URGENTLY required  by all clubs. Please contact Mike Harnett to register your interest..ALL SA clubs need marshalls elsewise our riding/raceing members will not actually get to race at club or open events.

Race types.......

Criterium   ... a race over a circuit greater than 800 m , based on time ridden not distance  eg Vic park is 1110 metres  around (inside) sprint rules and general road rules apply.May have a preme (sprint  whistle blown lap before) included. After or as near as possible to elapsed time (predetermined for grades etc)  a 2 lap to go warning is advised and a bell rung for the final lap!

Road Race.... as it says a race on the  public roads (VERY RARELY are the roads closed! ) They will vary in distance and difficulty, and could be handicapped (a time differential) graded, graded handicap ,my favourite secret handicap, over a set circuit ( repeated laps) or more rarely an out and back type or a combination .Distances will vary for differing ages and the racing is MORE structured at an OPEN level as opposed to CLUB races. Club racing is a good way to learn basics and improve your strengths

Time Trial   ..... an INDIVIDUAL (usually) event  timed over a fixed distance where the rider races to set a time. May include pairs or team competing together ,time determined by last rider across line (variation to numbers required are possible )  THERE ARE  specific equipment rules that are applicable to bike/rider geometry and can be contentious..if in doubt ASK !! do not presume that a bike shop nessassarily understands the UCI rules or the application of them to this category  .....no predjudice intended
